Go (or known as Igo in Japan) is a strategic board game invented more than 3,000 years ago in China and was played in Japan more than 1,000 years ago. It is a very popular game in Japan and Japan has played a very important role in developing and promoting the game.

The Malaysian Weiqi Association was formally established in 2003 although the game was played more than 30 years ago by a handful of players under the name Malaysia Go Association.

Currently, the members of the Malaysian Weiqi Association takes part in about 10 international tournaments annually and offers lessons to anyone interested in learning this wonderful game.
